Meek Mill blasts IRS over $2.8M tax bill for earnings of only $2 million

Rapper Meek Mill took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday to express his frustration with the IRS, claiming the agency charged him more in taxes than he earned in 2013.

Mill, a successful artist for over a decade, revealed that he was required to pay $2.8 million in taxes for the year, despite only earning $2 million. Having paid taxes since he was 23, the rapper questioned how to resolve the discrepancy, writing, “How do I fight that?” He also expressed the stress of such a significant financial burden, noting, “Paying damn near 3m out your account randomly is stressful.”

This isn’t the first time Meek Mill has aired concerns about his finances. In 2021, he criticized his music label for failing to compensate him adequately and for keeping him in the dark about how much the label made from his work. At the time, he posted about his lack of income from music and called for legal assistance.

Beyond his tax issues, Meek Mill also voiced dissatisfaction with the Philadelphia legal system, pushing for changes within the city’s legal infrastructure. He emphasized the need for new lawyers and younger assistant district attorneys, declaring, “I think ima step up to the plate of what’s going on!!!”
