Eubank smacks Benn with egg, face-off turns chaotic

Tensions boiled over between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn at a heated press conference in Manchester, culminating in Eubank slapping Benn across the face with an egg.

The British rivals, set to fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26 April, traded insults throughout the event before their obligatory face-off descended into chaos.

Eubank, 35, pulled an egg from his pocket and struck Benn, 28, on the cheek, prompting an angry reaction that led to both fighters being restrained by security.

Eubank later posted a video of the incident on social media, referencing Benn’s failed 2022 drug test, which was controversially linked to “highly elevated consumption” of eggs.

“Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg,” he wrote.

The press conference also saw Eubank criticise a rehydration clause that limits his weight gain before fight night, while Benn promised to “render him unconscious.”

The rivalry, fuelled by the history between their fathers, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, appears to be at an all-time high ahead of Thursday’s scheduled face-off in London.
