Only 25% MNAs attended all NA sittings of February session

ISLAMABAD:

About a quarter of the MNAs attended all the six sittings of the 13th session of the lower house of parliament during Feb 10-18, while 46 lawmakers of the 342-strong house did not show up during the entire session.

According to the attendance report, 77 MNAs, or 25%, attended all the sittings, whereas 46 MNAs or 15%, did not attend any sitting.

As many as 237 MNAs or 75% skipped at least one sitting during the session, 83 MNAs, or 35%, submitted leave applications.

Among the absentees, 154 MNAs, or 65%, skipped the proceedings without any application.

The third sitting witnessed the highest attendance with 205 MNAs, or 65%, present, while the fourth sitting had the lowest attendance, with 142 MNAs, or 45% present.

Among the cabinet members, the minister of state for Finance and Revenue, and the Minister for power had the highest attendance, participating in five sittings.

The prime minister did not attend any sitting while the opposition leader attended three sittings.
