Leaking roof at newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium draws public outrage

Water leaked from the ceiling of a washroom at Gaddafi Stadium during the first rainfall after its rapid renovation, raising concerns over the quality of the upgrades.

The stadium, refurbished in just 117 days, hosted matches of the Champions Trophy following the renovation.

A video circulating on social media showed water seeping through the ceiling, sparking criticism from fans.

Previoulsy, fans had damaged chairs during Afghanistan vs England match in Gaddafi Stadium. The videos of the damaged chairs also went viral on social media.

The incident followed a similar event at National Stadium Karachi during the Afghanistan vs South Africa match, where fans were also reported to have broken stadium property.

Both Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium Karachi, along with Rawalpindi Stadium, were recently upgraded as part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Rs 12.80 billion project to improve the facilities for the Champions Trophy 2025.
