Inflation rises, Iranian Finance Minister fired

TEHRAN: The finance minister was fired for inflation and the decline of the Iranian rial in Iran.

According to a foreign news agency, Parliament voted in favor of removing him from office in an action against the Finance Minister over inflation and the reduction of Iranian rials in Iran.

182 of the 273 Iranian parliament voted against Finance Minister Abdul Naser Hamati.

It may be recalled that Iranian Finance Minister and Economy Abdul Nasser Hamati joined the cabinet made eight months ago by Iranian President Masood Pashtakian.

According to a foreign news agency, one US dollar in the black market today is worth 9.5 million Iranian rials, compared to 6 million Iranian rials in mid -2024.

Earlier, Iranian President Masood Pashtakian defended Abdul Nasser Hamati, told lawmakers that we are in a complete economic war with the enemy and we have to adopt a war strategy.

He added that no one can be blamed for the country’s economic problems.
