Democratic decline

Unfortunately, Pakistan has been deprived of true democracy since its inception. The country has faced consistent political turmoil due to the influence of non-political actors. The most recent report from the Economic Intelligence Unit ranks the country 124th out of 167 states on its ‘Democracy Index’.

This low ranking highlights Pakistan’s democratic decline and demands immediate and strategic actions to restore democratic values. For this, Pakistan’s government needs to ensure judicial transparency, media freedom, meritocracy, and free and fair elections.
