A theft occurred at a mosque in Rawalpindi’s Cantt area, where a thief stole a laptop and a bag containing valuable items while the owner was engaged in prayer. CCTV footage has surfaced, capturing the suspect in action during the incident.

The footage reveals a well-dressed man wearing a black pair of sunglasses, a shirt, and trousers. He is seen picking up a shoulder bag containing a laptop and other belongings from the designated area inside the mosque.

After taking the bag, the thief switched his footwear for the shoes of another worshipper before leaving the mosque.

The CCTV shows the thief initially observing the shoe rack and then casually taking the bag from the spot, before moving towards the exit. He wore a black pair of sunglasses and appeared to blend in with the other worshippers.

Zia-ur-Rehman, the victim, filed a complaint with the Cantt police after noticing that his bag, containing a laptop, important documents, a USB, and a charger, was missing. Upon reviewing the footage, the police confirmed that an unknown thief had stolen the bag.

The police have registered a case based on the victim’s report. According to DSP Cantt, Mirza Javed Iqbal, the investigation is underway, and the suspect is expected to be apprehended soon with the help of CCTV evidence.

This incident follows a similar one in Lahore, where a thief stole a laptop from another mosque just the day before.
