
Crackdown on hoarders ordered
” Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, presiding over a meeting on price control, issued directives to regulate food prices across the province, emphasising that artificial price hikes and hoarding will not be tolerated; and essential commodity prices must be managed during Ramazan.
"The 2022 anti- profiteering law empowers the government to seize and auction hoarded goods to prevent market manipulation," CM Murad reminded the officials as the meeting poured over the price hike at the advent of the holy month of fasting.
"I direct you (administration) to seize the hoarded goods and auction them under the law," the head of the Sindh government said.
Karachi commissioner informed the meeting that over 250 Bachat Bazaars are operating in the city to provide relief to citizens. CM Murad also directed divisional commissioners to send DC and ACs on regular visits to the markets to monitor prices and curb unnecessary inflation.
Gas, power outages
Expressing concern over gas shortages, CM Sindh demanded an uninterrupted supply of gas, electricity, and water during Ramazan. He instructed Mayor Murtaza Wahab to ensure adequate water supply in the city and directed Minister of Energy Nasir Shah, to immediately contact power distribution companies (HESCO, SEPCO, and K-Electric) to prevent electricity outages.
Customs officers using tampered vehicles
Some officers of Pakistan Customs were using vehicles with tampered number plates illegally, Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla told the CM. The minister further informed that four vehicles had been impounded. CM Murad Ali Shah directed the minister to impound all such vehicles immediately. ”
