Redundant blocking

This letter refers to the news report ‘PTA gives nod to two firms for VPN services’ (February 24, 2025). Someone ought to tell the PTA that blocking VPNs and allegedly trying to erect firewalls is a waste of taxpayers’ money.

Trying to regulate VPNs by whitelisting some and not others is similarly misguided. We are in the age of AI, which will render all these attempts to block access to digital content meaningless.
