Manchester United set to step up interest in Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda

Manchester United are set to intensify their pursuit of Sporting CP’s highly-rated youngster Geovany Quenda, according to Sky Sport CH.

The Red Devils, who had a relatively quiet winter transfer window, have already initiated contact with the 17-year-old’s representatives and are preparing a formal bid.

United are reportedly willing to offer £25 million for the versatile right wing-back, but Sporting could demand a significantly higher fee, with suggestions that the Portuguese club may hold out for £40 million or more.

Quenda made his first-team debut for Sporting earlier this season under former manager Ruben Amorim, who now manages United. The teenager impressed as a right wing-back but has recently been deployed as a left winger under new boss Rui Borges.

Despite the positional change, he has continued to shine, contributing nine goal involvements this campaign.

Amorim is keen on a reunion with the talented youngster, having been the one to introduce him to first-team football. Known for his work rate, distribution, and defensive recoveries, Quenda could add much-needed depth to United’s wide options.

With competition likely for his signature, United may need to improve their initial offer. Including performance-based add-ons could strengthen their position in negotiations as Sporting look to maximise their return on one of their most promising prospects.
