Power distribution companies have reduced the losses, Owais Laghari

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Energy Awais Laghari has said that the losses of power distribution companies have reduced the losses. And providing cheap electricity to the people is the first priority.

Energy Minister Owais Laghari told the media that the energy sector has been reformed. And providing cheap electricity to the people is the first priority. In June last year, the price of electricity was Rs 48, 70 paise. And today the price of electricity has dropped by Rs 4 to 96 paise.

He said that its effects have been different within a variety of categories. And out of 104 IPPs, 18 are from the government, while we have closed 5 IPPs who were on furnace oil.

Owais Laghari said the revised agreements with IPPs have saved Rs 1,333 billion. And the energy sector will eliminate circular debt in the next 4 years.

“In the case of inflation, we gave the power facility package,” he said. However, the Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) government increased the circular loan by Rs 1,580 billion. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is ordered to take this increase on Zero.

The Minister said that the industrial and agricultural sector are taking steps to provide cheap electricity. And the losses of power distribution companies have reduced the losses.
