A security guard was killed in a firing incident by motorcycle riders in Karachi’s PECHS Society area. According to a statement from the Karachi police spokesperson, the incident occurred in Block 2 of PECHS, on Street 4, where armed motorcyclists opened fire, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Mirza Sajid Baig.

His body was transported to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The victim, a resident of the Lines Area, worked as a private security guard for a security company. On the night of the incident, he was performing his duties in the area when the assailants opened fire and fled the scene.

Local residents reported that the shooting occurred around Sehri time when the community was busy preparing for Sehri. They discovered Sajid’s body covered in blood shortly after hearing the gunshots.

Residents also mentioned that the area had seen an increase in street crimes and vehicle battery thefts in recent months.

Despite several requests to the Ferozabad Police to increase police patrols in the area, no action was taken.

However, they noted that after Sajid began working as a security guard, crimes in the area had decreased.

Police recovered three spent casings of a .30 bore pistol from the crime scene. The crime scene unit arrived at the location to gather evidence, and the family of the victim has been notified.

In another incident, a person was injured in a shooting on the Superhighway near DHA 9, Gadap City. According to police, 69-year-old Zahid Hussain was wounded during an attempted robbery.

The victim was taken to Fatima Bai Hospital via an Edhi ambulance. Police are investigating the case.
