Babar Azam’s father has criticised former cricketers for their remarks after the ex-Pakistan captain was excluded from the national squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
Azam Siddique took to Instagram to defend his son, highlighting Babar’s inclusion in the ICC T20I Team of the Year despite his omission from the squad.
He expressed confidence that the batter would reclaim his place through strong performances in the National T20 and Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Siddique urged former players to choose their words carefully, warning that they might not tolerate a response if someone were to reply to their criticism.
“You are part of the past and will not play again,” he wrote, adding that critics should reflect on their own careers before passing judgment.
Addressing criticism of his vocal support, Siddique described himself as Babar’s first coach, mentor, and spokesperson, asserting his right to defend his son.
He advised cricket fans to review past performances of those making noise, suggesting they check records on the PCB website for perspective.
