Karachi residents face power cuts during sehri, water supply affected
”
Residents of Karachi faced severe difficulties during Sehri as unannounced power outages disrupted daily routines, especially during sehri- pre-dawn meal of Ramadan.
On the night of March 10, 2025, multiple areas in Karachi, including Shah Faisal Colony Block 2, Green Town, Orangi Town, and others, suffered power cuts around 2 AM, reported.
Residents reported that despite several complaints to the concerned authorities, the reasons behind the power cuts were not communicated.
In addition to hindering the preparation for Sehri, the power outages also affected the water supply in several areas. With local pumping stations lacking electricity, water distribution came to a halt, further inconveniencing residents.
The situation led to concerns as the usual daily issues of power interruptions intensified during the holy month of Ramadan.
Residents in the affected areas voiced frustration, pointing out that such outages were frequent, with no clear explanation from the relevant authorities.
“Every day there is some issue with the electricity, and it is becoming unbearable, especially during Sehri hours when we need power the most,” said one local resident.
With Ramadan underway, citizens have urged the authorities to find an immediate solution to the recurring power cuts, which have exacerbated the difficulties of observing fasts during the holy month.
The power cuts have intensified the concerns of Karachi’s residents, especially given the crucial importance of the holy month and the added challenges of fasting. People are calling for an urgent intervention to restore services and ensure the smooth running of daily activities during Ramadan.
