Karachi gas crisis
Amidst Karachi’s ongoing gas woes, I have come to suspect that, instead of fuel gas, some non-combustible gas is being pumped into consumers’ pipes. Given Karachi’s significance as an economic hub and the fact that I reside in an upscale area, which may have a more stable supply, this points to an even more troubling reality: if well-off neighbourhoods are suffering, the situation in middle- and lower-income areas must be far worse.
The inability of gas meters to distinguish between fuel gas and air further exacerbates the problem, potentially leading to unjust billing. If air is indeed being pumped into the gas lines, it would be a grave issue, as consumers would not only be deprived of gas but also unfairly charged for something they are not receiving.
