Playboi Carti clears up rumors about Kanye West and SZA involvement in Music album

Playboi Carti’s much-anticipated new album Music has been the subject of several rumors, particularly regarding the involvement of Kanye West and SZA. However, a representative for Carti has confirmed that both artists are not part of the project, contrary to circulating reports.

Rumors had circulated that Kanye West had produced the song “Good Credit,” which features Kendrick Lamar, due to its use of a sped-up sample reminiscent of West’s 2004 debut The College Dropout. However, as per Variety, West had no involvement in the track’s production. Additionally, despite rumors suggesting SZA’s participation, the album actually features singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko, not SZA.

The lack of official credits on streaming platforms has led to some confusion about the album’s contributors. While platforms like Spotify provide songwriter and producer details, full album credits are often hard to come by, which has fueled speculation. For instance, Music missed its planned midnight ET release, arriving seven and a half hours later, likely due to last-minute changes.

Despite the confusion over credits, the album, which spans 76 minutes and features 30 tracks, includes notable guest appearances. Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott are each featured on three songs, alongside artists such as Aiko, The Weeknd, Skepta, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla Sign, and Young Thug.

Music is Carti’s first full-length album since Whole Lotta Red in 2020, and it has generated significant anticipation since its official announcement in September 2023, alongside the release of the single “All Red.” Carti is also set to headline the Rolling Loud California 2025 festival this weekend in Inglewood, California.
