At United Nations, Israeli Ambassador Danon Steers Jerusalem’s Strategy in Hostile Diplomatic Environment

JERUSALEM, Israel – Nearly 18 months after the October 7th, 2023, Hamas massacre and kidnappings, Israel still faces dangers on each border. The Jewish state also faces daily international challenges, especially from world bodies like the United Nations.

Serving as Israel’s Ambassador to the U.N., Danny Danon plays a key role on the world stage, shaping his country’s diplomatic strategy during turbulent times in the Middle East.

Now in his second tenure at the U.N., Danon chronicles what he learned during his first term in his book, The Lion’s Den.

In this role, the ambassador remains a vocal defender of Israel by confronting aggressive General Assembly and Security Council maneuvers, strengthening U.S. relations, and pushing back against Iran’s growing ambitions across the Middle East.

Speaking at the U.N. Security Council, Danon declared, “The chance before us is clear the chance to finally end the Islamic regime of Iran’s aspirations for a Shiite supremacist empire.”

Its nuclear program, however, continues to grow, and a new regime in Syria has shifted the balance of power in the region – converging threats that require Israel’s leaders to remain united while facing some of their most challenging security environments in decades.
