The move comes as part of the government’s effort to protect the public from being exploited by illegal fare hikes during a time of increased travel, Expres News reported.

In response to rising concerns, the government has instructed transport authorities to strictly monitor and control fares.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic and the provincial commissioners have been tasked with taking immediate action against transporters who violate fare regulations.

Sindh’s Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, emphasized that the government is committed to alleviating the financial burden on the public, particularly during the festive period.

“We are taking every possible measure to ensure that people are not overcharged,” Memon said.

Memon also warned transport owners that they must adhere to the officially set fares, and failure to comply would result in fines and legal consequences.

“We will take strict action against those who exploit the public,” he added.

The government has made it clear that daily inspections will be carried out at bus stations and terminals across the province to enforce fare regulations

. Passengers are encouraged to report any instances of fare overcharging immediately.
