Bangladesh: Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization banned – Hum News

British media say that Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization have been banned in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh government on Thursday banned the Jamaat-e-Islami party, its student wing and other affiliates, labeling the party a “militant and terrorist” organization, after violent protests in Bangladesh sparked nationwide crackdowns. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet have accused Jamaat-e-Islami, its student wing and other allied organizations of inciting violent protests during recent student protests against the quota system for government jobs.
