Bangladesh: Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization banned – Hum News

British media say that Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization have been banned in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh government on Thursday banned the Jamaat-e-Islami party, its student wing and other affiliates, labeling the party a “militant and terrorist” organization, after violent protests in Bangladesh sparked nationwide crackdowns. More than 200 people were killed during the violent protests blamed on Down.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet have accused Jamaat-e-Islami, its student wing and other allied organizations of inciting violent protests during recent student protests against the quota system for government jobs.
