Martial arts: Irfan Mehsud sets two Guinness Records

LAHORE: Pakistani martial artist Irfan Mehsud set two new Guinness World Records, surpassing previous records held by Italy’s Marcelo Ferri.

A south Waziristan native, the marital artist broke Ferri’s record for lifting an 18-kilogram (kg) weight with his toe, previously held for 1 minute 32 seconds. He set a new record of lifting for 3 minutes 20 seconds.

He also set a new record by lifting a 70 kg weight with his toe.

With these latest records, Mehsud now holds a total of 100 Guinness World Records, making him the first Pakistani to achieve this feat.

His impressive collection includes 46 records for push-ups and 31 records involving a 45-kg weight, as well as additional records with 36-kg, 27-kg and 18-kg weights.

Throughout his record-breaking career, Mehsud surpassed records from 16 countries, including the United States, Great Britain, India, China, and Norway.

Irfan Mehsud also guided 16 students to set their own Guinness World Records. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mehsud received the Presidential Award for Excellence in 2023.
