
Sri Lanka announced visa-free entry for 35 countries
Colombo: Sri Lanka has announced to allow citizens of Saudi Arabia to enter the country without a visa from October 1.
According to a foreign news agency, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Tourism Adviser Harin Fernando announced a visa-free country. He made the announcement on the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to the data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Saudi Arabia is the third largest country in terms of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka exhibited tourism products in Riyadh Travel Fair 2024 from 27th to 29th May this year which got great success. Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajawad said that the aim of this initiative is to promote tourism and increase trade relations with Saudi Arabia.

Sri Lanka has also announced to provide visa-free service to citizens of 34 other countries besides Saudi Arabia. Including Great Britain, China, America, India, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Australia, Denmark, Poland, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, France, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, Belarus, Iran, Sweden, South Korea, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and New Zealand are included.
It should be noted that Sri Lanka defaulted in May 2022 and due to the economic crisis, the people stormed the presidential palace, the houses of government officials, parliament and other places, on which the government members had to flee the country.
