In the near future, see electric planes flying in the city of Neum, Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s futuristic city of Neom is receiving a fleet of electric ships for its transportation system.
According to Arab TV, these ships can fly over water to transport citizens from one place to another and are another step towards sustainable urban mobility in the region.
The City Neom Authority has ordered eight Candela P12 aircraft from the Stockholm-based company. These are the world’s first electric hydrofoil vessels for the city’s proposed water network.

Company founder and CEO Gustav Hasselskog said this is the largest order in the company’s history and the ship is designed to be a zero-emissions water transport system that offers significant improvements over traditional water travel. .
The ship will be unveiled in the fall of 2024 and is being hailed as a new beginning in maritime transit. Using computer-guided underwater wings, or hydrofoils, these ships use 80 percent less energy than conventional ships of the same size. The first batch of eight ships will arrive in Neom in 2025 and early 2026.
