Project for leasing of underpass and pedestrian bridge

LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority Lahore has planned to lease the city’s underpasses and pedestrian bridges to make them profitable.

PHA spokesperson says that 11 underpasses and pedestrian bridges of Lahore will be leased for business promotion. The underpasses to be leased include Doctor Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Punjab University New Campus, Dharmapura and Muslim Town underpasses.

Apart from this, Ferozepur Road, FC College, Jail Road, Mall Road, Gulab Devi and Firdous Market underpass will also be leased.

The spokesperson said that 11 overhead bridges designed for pedestrians will also be leased. Among them are Canal Road, Marat Ali Road, 4th Gate Punjab University, Jinnah Hospital, Federal Colony, Johar Town H Block, Awan-e-Quaid-e-Azam and Ideoor Pakistan Trust bridges.

The spokesman said that leasing of underpasses and bridges is likely to generate more than Rs 8 crore annually to the PHA.
