Ukrainian F-16 plane crashes, pilot killed

Kiev: The American F-16 plane received by Ukraine has crashed. The pilot also died in the accident.

According to a foreign news agency, the Ukrainian army has said that the plane crashed in an attempt to thwart a Russian airstrike. The US recently delivered F-16s to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian General Staff said on a social media website that the F-16 was en route to its target in Russia when it crashed. In which the pilot also died.

He said that the F-16 aircraft demonstrated high quality and also shot down 4 Russian cruise missiles. Russia had fired more than 200 drones.

Ukraine said in a statement that one of the planes went missing on its way to its next target but later returned, but now the F-16 has crashed.

US Department of Defense officials said in a statement that the F-16 aircraft in Ukraine was not shot down by Russian fire. The crash may have been due to pilot error, but it is under investigation.
