Champions Trophy 2025 to be played in Pakistan, confirms ICC

DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has confirmed that there were currently no plans to move the 2025 Champions Trophy away from Pakistan.

With doubts looming over the tournament being moved out of the country due to various security reasons, the ICC Chief Executive reinstated that Pakistan would serve as the official hosts of the tournament.

Speaking at a media briefing for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Allardice expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s venue and highlighted that the ICC regularly visited its member countries, including Pakistan, to ensure the successful hosting of its events.

He once again clarified the ongoing doubts, adding that the tournament is being “awarded to Pakistan Cricket Board”.

He assured that no team had expressed reluctance to play in the tournament, and all teams were committed to participating in Pakistan.

However, the official dates of the Champions Trophy 2025 haven’t been revealed, the tournament is set to mark its return after eight-year break. In the last edition, which was played in England, Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India by 180 runs in 2017.
