The government has prepared a plan to reduce electricity rates by removing system defects

Lahore: The federal government has prepared a plan to reduce the electricity rates by removing the defects of the system.

According to the documents, the federal government will fix the defects in the transmission system. Fixing system defects will reduce the tariff by 71 paise per unit.

The document claims that imported coal-fired power plants will be shifted to Thar coal. Shifting to Thar coal will reduce electricity rates by Rs 2 per unit.

Out of the country’s 1.5 million tubewells, 1.2 million run on diesel. Tubewells consume 3.23 billion liters of diesel annually.

According to the documents, 2 billion 74 crores will be saved by shifting tube wells to solar system. The government is also in talks with the IPPs to make electricity cheaper.
