Islamabad also banned the use of social media by police officers and officials

Islamabad: A ban was imposed on the use of social media by police officers and personnel in the federal capital Islamabad as well.

A social media policy was made for the Federal Police on the instructions of the Establishment Division. According to the notification issued in this regard, no police officer or official will give his opinion to the media without prior departmental permission. Nor will anyone write an article.

Police officers or personnel in police uniform, official vehicle or in any official building are prohibited from making video or photo for personal promotion. No police officer or official shall upload secret, official or any material on social media.

Federal police officers or officials will not express their political or religious opinion on any media. The public relations officer of the IG office is the only source of expression of police activities.

An officer or official of the Federal Police will take permission from the DIG, Public Relations Officer of the IG office to convey any of his words to the media.

The officers of the concerned units of the Federal Police shall be responsible to their subordinates. Strict departmental action will be taken for violation.
