Increase in export of precious stones and jewelry

Exports of precious stones and jewelery have recorded a year-on-year increase in the first two months of the current financial year.

According to the data released by the State Bank and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country earned 1.479 million dollars in foreign exchange from the export of precious stones in the first two months of the financial year (July-August).

This foreign exchange is 137 percent higher than the same period of the previous fiscal year, in the same period of fiscal year 2024, the country earned $0.625 million foreign exchange from the export of precious stones.

Export volume of precious stones was recorded at $0.464 million in August as against $1.016 million in July and $0.122 million in August last year.

According to the data, the volume of jewelery exports in the first two months of the financial year was recorded at 2.362 million dollars, which is 73% higher than the same period of the previous financial year.

In the same period of fiscal year 2024, the country earned 1.367 million dollars in foreign exchange from jewelery exports, in August the volume of jewelery exports was recorded at 0.690 million dollars which was 1.672 million dollars in July and 0.907 million dollars in August last year.
