Trouble on the court

This letter refers to the article ‘Pakistan’s tennis faces major setback’ (September 29, 2024) by Sarfraz Ahmed. I totally agree with the point that Pakistan tennis needs major changes in order to be successful again. There is a scarcity of young talent. Fresh talent must be brought forward to compete against young opponents. I had the opportunity to witness the ill-fated Davis Cup tie held in Islamabad in February 2024.

The Pakistani duo lacked fitness and stamina compared to the young Indian talent. Though there is no denying the laurels brought by Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan in the game of tennis, but, in my opinion, it is about time that the duo hang their boots and make way for fresh talent to come up the ranks.
