Former Speaker National Assembly Elhi Baksh Soomro passed away

ISLAMABAD: Former speaker of National Assembly and senior politician Elahi Bakhsh Soomro passed away.

Former leader of PML-N and former Speaker of National Assembly Elahi Bakhsh Soomro was ill for the past several days. He was elected Member of National Assembly from Jacobabad several times. Elahi Bakhsh Soomro was the Speaker of the National Assembly and also a Federal Minister.

Elahi Bakhsh Soomro was the speaker of the National Assembly during the second term of the PML-N government from 1997 to 1999.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in his condolence statement expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the death of former Speaker National Assembly Elahi Bakhsh Soomro. He prayed for forgiveness and elevation of ranks and patience for the family members.

Elahi Baksh Soomro announced his retirement from politics in 2017 and said that I am 93 years old at that time, so I am announcing my resignation from politics.

He said that I started politics with Muslim League and I am still in Muslim League even when I retired from politics. I have resigned from politics, but I am still a member of the League and all my services are for the Muslim League.
