Root makes double century as England close in on target

MULTAN: Joe Root continued to lead the charge on Thursday, making a double century and helping England to close in on the target Pakistan set.

On Wednesday Joe Root broke the record for most test runs scored in England’s history, making a century shortly after. He continued to add on to his total on Thursday morning, quickly making a double century off 305 balls.

Root hit a pair of fours in the first few overs of the morning session. Harry Brook did the same, and the pair now both have hit 14 fours in the game so far. Brook is closing in on a double century of his own, sitting at 157 runs off 198 deliveries.

England trail by only 23 runs, currently standing at 533 for 3. The partnership between Root and Brook has emphatic, making 281 runs off 361 balls, the largest of the match so far.
