Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam F, has said that we stand by our previous position regarding the constitutional amendments, if our conditions are accepted, we can agree on a suitable draft.

Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said that the discussion on the draft has started and copies have been given to the members of the committee today. PP and JUI will move towards a consensus draft.

He further said that the other allies of the government should also be taken into confidence about this draft and bring the opposition together towards a consensus.

Fazlur Rehman said that the People’s Party has been satisfied by us that they can agree on a suitable draft provided that our suggestions are also accepted. was

He said that today we stand by our position and we are trying to clear the objectionable material completely and to bring about reforms in the constitution and judiciary through consensus.

He said that we had done away with the past distortions in the Constitution through the 18th Amendment, but the 19th Amendment has done away with the role of Parliament in judicial reforms.

He said that we recommend that the 19th Amendment be repealed and the 18th Amendment be restored, the appointment of judges on the basis of seniority, efficiency and health, where the role of the Judicial Commission will be played, the role of the Parliament will also be played.
