Afghanistan will not participate in the summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Not invited by the SCO Secretariat.

According to diplomatic sources, Afghanistan was not invited to participate in the SCO meeting, Pakistan as the SCO chair did not obstruct Afghanistan’s participation, Afghanistan is not a member of the SCO, is an observer state and is inactive.

Diplomatic sources say that Afghanistan became an SCO observer on June 7, 2012 and has been inactive since September 2021. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has not recognized most of the provisions of the SCO-Afghan agreement.

According to the sources, it is important for the Islamic Emirate to recognize the SCO-Afghan agreement, the dialogue partners were not even invited to the SCO Summit, the SCO Secretariat has invited only the observer member Mongolia.
