Mental health neglect

Pakistan has a growing mental health crisis, with an estimated 50 million people experiencing mental health issues. The remote areas of Sindh do not have any well-equipped mental health institution to facilitate and detect patients with mental health issues. This has led to a high rate of suicide cases in some areas.

The Sindh government has made numerous promises to upgrade mental health facilities, but when these promises will be fulfilled is anybody’s guess. A law called the Sindh Mental Health Act 2015 exists but there is little evidence of its practical implementation.
