Ayub and Ghulam steady Pakistan after Masood crumbles

MULTAN: England quickly dispatched with Pakistan skipper Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique before Tuesday’s lunch break, while Kamran Ghulam and Saim Ayub fought to steady the side.

Shan Masood fell in the tenth over, after a poor shot to short midwicket led to an easy catch for Zac Crawley. Masood was only able to make three runs off seven deliveries before being dismissed on the delivery by Jack Leach.

That was Leach’s second wicket, dismissing Abdullah Shafique just two overs before. Shafique made only seven runs off 28 deliveries, before being bowled by Leach on a beautiful delivery from the left arm spinner.

Saim Ayub and debutant Kamran Ghulam were able to steady the ship, with the former closing in on a half century, while the latter hit the first and only six of the game so far.

Ayub has made 40 runs off 83 deliveries and Ghulam has made 29 off 56.

Pakistan currently stands at 79 runs for two from 29 overs at the lunch break.
