Futility of force
Trying to suppress people’s voices only ends up making them louder. This is a simple idea which the government cannot seem to understand. The scenes witnessed in Karachi last week, when those participating in the Sindh Rawadari March were maltreated by the police, expose the hostility of the authorities to the constitutional rights they are supposed to uphold.
The people participating in the protest were subjected to baton charges and other deplorable acts. Section 144 does not grant the police the right to treat protesters however they wish.
