Israel claims the martyrdom of the new head of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar

Israel has claimed the martyrdom of the new head of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar.

The IDF says it is investigating the possibility that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was one of three people killed by troops in Gaza recently.

“The identities of the three individuals cannot be confirmed at this time,” the IDF said in a statement.

The military noted that there were no hostages in the area where the three men were killed. There were reports that Sunwar was hiding among the hostages, using them as human shields.

The army added that “IDF and Shin Bet forces operating in the area are continuing to operate under the necessary precautions.”

The IDF released its statement after rumors about the incident spread widely online.

Channel 12 reported that soldiers conducted the operation on the ground floor of a building. When they later entered the building, they noticed that one of the dead men looked like a jeweler.

A strong identification is expected to take a few hours, the TV report said. It has been reported that the three bodies have been taken for DNA test.
