
Kohli dismissed, India trail by 125 at end of day 3

BENGALARU: India tried to crawl their way out of the hole that New Zealand dug them in on Friday, bringing their second innings total to 231 but losing Virat Kohli on the final ball of the session. They trail by 125 runs.
Glenn Phillips brought an end to Virat Kohli’s innings on the last ball of the session, celebrating as soon as wicket keeper Tom Blundell caught the ball.
Kohli protested and India reviewed but the UltraEdge detected the slightest of edges, sending Kohli off the field. The Indian batsman made 70 runs off 102 deliveries, hitting eight fours and one six in the process.

Earlir in the day, India lost two wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to be dismissed, in the third over of the day. On a delivery by Ajaz Patel Jaiswal charged up the pitch but the ball missed the outside edge of Jaiswal’s bat, going past him and to Blundell, who took out the stumps. Jaiswal made 35 runs off 52 balls hitting six fours in the process.
Patel would get his second wicket of the innings, taking out Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. It came just in the nick of time for New Zealand, as Sharma was gaining confidence rapidly.
He made a half century in the previous over after he hit three back to back boundaries, including a six in the middle of two fours. The ball spun off the bat of Sharma who tried to defend, and ended up rolling into the stumps. An unfortunate dismissal for India.
