ISLAMABAD: In the first semi-final of the Emerging Asia T20 Cup, Sri Lanka A delivered a solid performance to defeat defending champions Pakistan Shaheens by seven wickets, securing their place in the final.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan struggled to gain momentum, with only Umair Bin Yousuf standing out. Yousuf’s gritty 68 runs helped Pakistan Shaheens post a modest total of 135/9.
Sri Lanka A’s chase was steady and effective. Chasing 136, they reached the target in the 17th over with seven wickets in hand. Nuwanidu Fernando’s impressive 52 and Lahiru Udara’s quick-fire 43 led the way, propelling Sri Lanka A into the tournament final.
With this win, Sri Lanka A advances to the final, where they’ll face Afghanistan A on October 27 for the Emerging Asia T20 Cup title.
