Stop the 26th

After weeks of politicking, the coalition government has finally achieved triumph and introduced the 26th Amendment to the constitution. The way in which the chief justice is appointed has been significantly altered and new benches have been introduced that will have the power to hear constitutional cases and take suo motu action, which was a privilege of the CJP before this amendment .

However, some have dubbed this amendment as an onslaught on the independence of the judiciary. I think this criticism is absolutely right. Prompt action is required to make sure these damaging changes are declared null and void.
