UAE’s new traffic law will also fine those who cross the road on foot

Under the new traffic law in the UAE, those who cross the road on foot will also be fined.

It has been decided to implement a new traffic law in the United Arab Emirates, heavy fines will be imposed for violation, the new traffic law is expected to be implemented from March 29, 2025.

New rules are being introduced for all road users including motorcyclists and pedestrians.

According to Emirates Illum, fines of up to 200,000 dirhams can be imposed on eight serious violations of traffic laws, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving despite license suspension, fleeing from the scene of an accident, accident. It includes causing death, traffic accident while crossing road other than designated places, driving in valley during flood.

If the license has been suspended by the order of a court or traffic control authority, in such a case the driver will be imprisoned for three months and fined 10,000 dirhams or both. The minimum age has been fixed at 17 years which was earlier 18 years.

The new law also prohibits crossing highways with a speed limit of more than 80 km/h. will be punished with a fine of ten thousand dirhams.

Driving or attempting to drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicant shall be punished with a fine of not less than 30,000 dirhams to 200,000 dirhams and imprisonment or both.

In a hit-and-run case, non-cooperation with the authorities, concealment of information will be punishable by one year in prison and a fine ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 dirhams or both. Reckless driving is punishable by imprisonment and a fine of at least 50,000 dirhams in case of death.
