KARACHI: Former Federal Finance Minister and Awam Pakistan Party leader Miftah Ismail has said that this government is sitting here because of a dubious mandate.

Former Federal Minister of Finance Miftah Ismail while addressing the lawyers in the Bar Association said that there was no mention of justice in this constitutional amendment.

He said that even in the economy, this government did not make any reforms that there could be any improvement. The tax reforms were not done the way they should have been.

Miftah Ismail said that salaried people were also burdened with tax and capitalists were given subsidies of billions of rupees. No one else should decide who will sit in the parliament because the people elect the parliament.

He said that before the 26th constitutional amendment, he had said that justice will become cheaper. But nothing like that happened. The bill was hidden from the public and passed in secret.

The former federal minister said that if we talk about the economy, no such reforms have been made that will benefit the people. 50,000 salary was taxed. But there is no tax on the landlord.

He said that when the heat is high in Pakistan, the electricity goes off. And when the cold comes, then the gas goes away. In a city like Karachi, even water is not available and one has to buy and drink water.
