WANKHEDE: New Zealand made 235 runs in their first innings before they lost their 10th wicket on Friday. Ravindra Jadeja dominated, taking five wickets, while Washington Sundar took an equally impressive four.
JADEJA FIVE-FER
Ravindra Jadeja was the star of India’s bowlers, taking a five-wicket haul, beginning with two wickets in the 45th over. Will Young was dismissed first, ending the largest partnership of New Zealand’s innings, after the ball found the outside edge as it spun away from Young and his attempt to defend. India skipper Rohit Sharma took the catch at first slip.
Three balls later, Tom Blundell was sent off for a duck on the third ball he faced, as he misjudged the delivery from Jadeja, which ended up crashing into the off stump.
New Zealand would lose their next wicket in the 53rd over. This time it was Glenn Phillips who was bowled by Jadeja. Phillips attempt to defend was in vain as the middle stump was killed.

The ball managed to get past the outside edge of Latham’s bat before making contact with the outside half of the off stump. Racchin Ravindra fell soon after in the 20th over, only scoring 5 runs before he was sent off in much the same way as Latham, with the ball nicking off stump.
A momentary lapse in judgement led to Daryl Mitchell being sent off after he popped up the ball to Sharma for an easy catch. Three balls later Sundar’s delivery would find Ajaz Patel’s pads. New Zealand used a review, but ball tracking showed the stumps were meant to be splayed.
AKASH DEEP
Akash Deep would take one wicket and it would be the first of the match in the fourth over. Devon Conway would fall after the delivery from Deep would get past the inside edge of the bat before hitting Conway’s back pad.
