ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has demanded a mini-budget to meet the shortfall due to failure in tax targets.
According to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sources, the International Monetary Fund rejected the FBR’s request to revise the tax targets during virtual talks. Difficulties may be faced in the second installment due to shortfall.
Sources say that a mini-budget of 500 billion can be estimated by estimating the shortfall of the coming months. While an ordinance can also be brought for FBR enforcement of 60 billion rupees. However, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also asked for the performance report from Chairman FBR.
18 officers including 4 board members have been sacked in FBR to achieve tax targets.

Mir Badshah was removed from Inland Revenue Operations, Tariq Arbab as Member Legal. Member Inland Revenue Policy Hamid Atiq Sarwar has been made Member Inland Revenue Operations.
FBR sources have said that the preparations for the removal of Mirbadshah Khan were made at the time of the appointment of Rashid Mehmood Langriyal, and Najeeb Ahmed Memon has been appointed as Member Inland Revenue Policy in place of Thahamid Atiq Sarwar.
