The process of installation of new modern passport printers has been completed in the passport department, the printing capacity of the passport department has doubled with the arrival of new printers.

According to media reports, DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi has said that 40 thousand passports are being printed on a daily basis, earlier the daily capacity was 20 thousand passports.

He said that 7 more modern machines will reach the passport headquarters soon, 2 printers have been ordered for printing e-passports.

Modern printers will see a staggering increase in printing capacity, eliminating bag locks on a daily basis as capacity increases.

Earlier, the passport department had given good news to the citizens that the bag lock of the passports applied in the fast track category has been reduced to zero while the pending passports are also being provided to the citizens quickly.

Issue of passports delayed, backlog likely to end by September

Officials said that more than 30,000 fast track passports have been issued, 70,000 passports applied under the urgent category have also been issued.

The passport department had said that the bag lock of applied passports under the urgent category will be reduced to zero by the day after tomorrow.

Apart from this, 17 thousand 500 passports applied through foreign missions are also cleared, 17 thousand passports applied online have also been issued.
