
Babar and Rizwan fall in ICC T20I batting rankings

WEB DESK: After Australia swept Pakistan in the T20I series earlier this month, both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan fell in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) batting rankings released on Wednesday.
T20I BATTERS
Babar Azam fell one place and is now ranked fifth among all T20I batters, with a rating of 742. The last time Babar was ranked first among all T20 batters was in September of 2022. After the series against Australia, Babar is now the second all-time leading run scorer in T20Is, just behind Rohit Sharma.
Mohammad Rizwan is one place below him, currently ranked sixth with a rating of 719. He last achieved the number one ranking in September of 2022.
Australia’s Travis Head occupied the top spot with a rating of 855, despite not competing in the Aussies’ last series against Pakistan. England’s Phil Salt is ranked second with a rating of 828, and India’s Tilak Varma is ranked third with a rating of 806.
Rankings: Shaheen Afridi claims top spot, Rauf jumps 13 places
T20I BOWLERS
Shaheen Afridi dropped ten places in T20I bowlers. He is now ranked 24th with a rating of 585. Shaheen’s career high ranking in the format is ninth, which he achieved in October of 2021.
Haris Rauf moved up four places, and is now ranked 20th with a rating of 601. After the T20I series against Australia, Rauf is now tied with Shadab Khan for most T20I wickets taken by a Pakistani player. Shaheen Shah Afridi is right behind Rauf and Shadab with 97 wickets taken in T20Is, and is tied with Sahid Afridi. Rauf’s career high ranking is 11th, which he last achieved in April of 2023.
England’s Adil Rashid occupies the top spot with a rating of 701. Right beneath him is Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga with a rating of 696. In third place is Australia’s Adam Zampa, who took six wickets in the T20I series against Pakistan.
ODI RANKINGS
Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi still occupy the top spot among ODI batters and bowlers respectively. Babar is rated 825 while Shaheen is rated 696. The two achieved their rankings after Pakistan beat Australia 2-1 in their last series.
