Increase in rice exports in the country

In the first four months of the current financial year, rice exports from the country have recorded a significant increase on annual basis.

According to the data of the State Bank and the Institute of Statistics, in the first 4 months of the financial year, the country received 902.020 million dollars in foreign exchange from rice exports, which is 33.68% more than the same period of the previous financial year.

During the same period of the previous fiscal year, the country earned $674.72 million in foreign exchange from rice exports. In October 2024, the volume of rice exports was recorded at 268.81 million dollars, which was 197.20 million dollars in September and 256.85 million dollars in October last year.

Prices of 11 commodities fell during the week, 17 increased marginally

In fiscal year 2024, the total volume of rice exports was recorded at 3.687 billion dollars. According to the data, in the first 4 months of the current financial year, the country received 294.58 million dollars in foreign exchange from the export of basmati rice, which is 13.65% higher than the 259.18 million dollars in the same period of the previous financial year.

Similarly, the volume of exports of non-basmati rice was recorded at 607.44 million dollars, which is 46.17% more than the same period of the previous financial year. . It should be noted that in the first four months of the current financial year, the total volume of exports of food items was recorded at 2.157 billion dollars.
