Zimbabwe defeat Pakistan in first ODI

BULAWAYO: Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan by 80 runs (DLS method) in the first ODI of the three-match series, played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Batting first, Zimbabwe set a revised target of 206 runs for Pakistan after rain disrupted play. Pakistan’s chase faltered as they managed only 60 runs for the loss of six wickets before the match ended under the DLS method.

Zimbabwe now leads the series 1-0, leaving Pakistan with an uphill task to bounce back.

For Pakistan, Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub scored 11 and 17 runs respectively, while Kamran Ghulam contributed 17. Salman Ali Agha and Irfan Khan struggled, managing just 4 and 7 runs each.

The rain delay proved pivotal, as Zimbabwe capitalized on the conditions and maintained control throughout the match.
