After being elected, the President said that the people of Namibia have voted for peace and stability. On the other hand, the opposition parties have rejected the results of the elections.
Due to technical issues, shortage of ballot papers and other problems, election officials extended the voting for a week.
The opposition parties have declared the extension of the voting phase illegal and will challenge the results in court. The opposition candidate won 25.5 percent of the votes.
