Of this, dates worth 30 million dollars are being exported annually, but if the necessary facilities are available to the date palm exporters, then the export target can increase further.

According to the official news agency, Ithmar experts of Date Palm Research Institute Ari Faisalabad said that Pakistan exports dates to thirty-six countries, while more than 4 lakh tons of dates are sold only within Pakistan.

He said that due to better administrative services and available facilities in Pakistan, the amount of export dates has increased from 50 million dollars to 76 million dollars in the recent one year, and further increase is also possible.

He said that it is difficult but not impossible to compete with international standards due to the lack of adequate facilities in date export.

Dates produced in Pakistan are considered among the top varieties of dates in the world in terms of their excellent quality, taste and delicacy, but there is a wide scope for improvement in their packaging and processing systems.

If the system of packing, polishing and processing of dates is improved, at least 100 million dollars worth of dates can be exported and the acquisition of valuable foreign exchange can be ensured. Apart from encouraging more exports, it may also be possible to reduce domestic prices.
